Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Three individuals, including two teenagers, lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Howrah's Joypur area early this morning. The victims, identified as 30-year-old Manoj Ghosh, and 16-year-olds Ritesh Ghosh and Rakesh Mondal, were found lying on the road near the Tentuimuri locality under the Baganan police station. A motorcycle, believed to have been ridden by the victims, was discovered crashed into a tree in close proximity to the scene.
The victims had attended a Kali Puja celebration at Jhampatia Teliberia on Saturday night. They were reportedly returning home early Sunday morning when the accident occurred. The police suspect that the motorcycle lost control, possibly due to excessive speed, causing it to crash into a tree. However, the investigation is still ongoing, and police are working to confirm the exact cause of the crash.
Locals discovered the victims lying on the road at daybreak and immediately informed the police. Authorities arrived at the scene and sent the bodies for autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The victims were residents of the nearby Bainan Bazaar area, and they were part of a local dance troupe. Police also noted that one of the victims, believed to be Ritesh or Rakesh, had managed to make a phone call to their dance group members before succumbing to injuries. However, the call was not immediately recognized as an emergency, and no assistance was provided in time.
The Baganan police station is investigating the incident and has launched a detailed inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash. The investigation will focus on the possibility of high-speed driving as a contributing factor, and whether other elements, such as road conditions or vehicle malfunction, played a role in the tragedy.
